JOB SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing general maintenance and repairs, including preventative maintenance on equipment, rack repairs, and door and dock plate replacements. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the operational efficiency and safety of the facility by maintaining various systems and equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Preventive Maintenance: Assist with the preventive maintenance and repair of conveyor systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Equipment Repairs: Support repairs and maintenance for forklifts and pallet jacks, both mechanical and electrical.
  • Electrical Work: Perform electrical duties, including troubleshooting AC applications, installing new circuits, and conducting repairs.
  • HVAC Systems: Assist in the installation, troubleshooting, and repair of heating and air conditioning systems to maintain a comfortable working environment.
  • Plumbing Tasks: Handle plumbing installations and repairs, including toilets, drains, fire sprinkler systems, gas lines, and lawn sprinkler systems.
  • Carpentry and Welding: Execute carpentry tasks such as framing and finishing new office areas, building cabinets, and countertops. Assist with general welding projects.
  • Maintenance Projects: Complete assigned indoor and outdoor maintenance projects, including dock door repairs and pantry maintenance.
  • Other Duties: Perform additional related duties as assigned or requested by management.

Position Requirements

  • Education/Training: A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of two years of job-related experience with demonstrated competence.
  • Knowledge: Ability to comprehend manufacturer's technical instructions related to preventative maintenance procedures and schedules. Capable of determining appropriate actions for projects and knowing when to consult with others.
  • Skills:
  • Strong mechanical skills and spatial abilities.
  • Physical strength and stamina to perform demanding tasks.
  • Proficient with hand and power tools, including their operation and application.
  • Knowledge of warehouse machinery.
  • Design skills and strong math skills.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and communication.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability:
  • Flexibility to work overtime without prior notice and to be "on call" as needed.
  • Ability to interact effectively with internal customers and collaborate with subcontractors when required.

Physical/Sensory Demands

  • Hazardous Work: This position involves physically demanding tasks in various body positions and may include exposure to hazardous materials and chemicals.
  • Environmental Conditions: Work is performed in extreme temperatures, both indoors and outdoors, and may involve dirty or messy environments.
  • Height Exposure: There will be exposure to varying heights while performing maintenance tasks.
  • Dynamic Work Environment: The workload, location, and nature of problems requiring resolution can be unpredictable, necessitating a high level of alertness and adaptability. Emergencies may arise at any time, requiring immediate response.
